Once you are a seller, join a garage sale in progress at your local church (or favorite Christian organization) or organize/ sponsor your own garage sale to benefit your church, church group, or non-profit organization! It is that easy!
A Few Important Notes!
Whenever you join a garage sale event you LIST YOUR ITEM FOR FREE and we DO NOT CHARGE SELLER'S FEES. That way your church or Christian organization can receive 100% of all sales made in a BuyFromAChristian.com garage sale! This is no promotion. Rather, this is a commitment that BuyFromAChristian.com wants to help churches raise money- at any time and for any need!
Just to clarify, when you list an item on the site OUTSIDE of the Fundraising Center (when you list an item on the site that is NOT part of a garage sale) you are charged $0.25 to list each item for one month. Then, you are charged 3.5% of the sales price once the item sells. (To see a detailed explanation of charges to sellers OUTSIDE of the Fundraising Centerclick here). Again, these charges DO NOT APPLY to items listed in garage sales. Garage sale listings are completely free, compliments of BuyFromAChristian.com!
You will be given the option to renew your listing EVERY MONTH (like all listings on BuyFromAChristian.com), but you will NOT be charged as long as your listing is part of a GARAGE SALE LISTING!
All listings entered onto the site by this feature will have a symbol reading "Garage Sale Item!" beside these particular listings. However, the item will list just like any other product on our site, among all of our other products in your selected category!
Right below this "Garage Sale Item!" symbol will be a "See all other items in this garage sale" link that will show any user ALL of the listings for this particular church (or organization).
You can also access a state-by-state listing of all of our current garage sale groups on our website by simply clicking on the "Church Garage Sales" or "Fundraisers" buttons on our homepage!
How A Garage Sale Works!
Any seller on BuyFromAChristian.com may sign up their church or Christian organization for an online garage sale. All you have to do is provide the name of the church (or organization) for which the garage sale is being held. Then, we ask for the dates in which you would like for your garage sale to take place. We then instantly send a sponsor a unique identifier code (a combination of letters and numbers) to be sent out to all people the sponsor wants to invite into a garage sale. Once this number is provided, anyone can join that particular garage sale! We even generate an invitation email for a sponsor to use if they wish to send out invitations directly from our site.
Product listings are FREE in all garage sales! And there are NO SELLER FEES for items listed in BuyFromAChristian.com garage sales. So now churches can raise money in an easy way and can receive 100% of all product sales!
Most garage sales work by members of a congregation donating items for a local garage sale. Our hope is that this would be the same system used in our garage sale feature. A sponsor will be able to see a list of all items listed in a particular garage sale, and a list of all items sold in a garage sale. Since financial transactions (that is, the actual transfer of funds from a buyer to a seller) occur outside of our website, it will be up to a sponsor to collect all money earned in a garage sale. People who participate will likely just want to give their money once a garage sale has ended. Most will also likely want to give the sale price of an item, and not shipping and handling charges- so they will not lose money in a garage sale transaction.
So, for example, if a person sells a $100 item with shipping set at $10, they will receive a payment from a buyer of $110. BuyFromAChristian.com receives NO PORTION of the sale price. Sellers will likely want to keep the $10 shipping and handling fees in order to ship a sold item to a buyer. Then, they can give the $100 directly to the church! (It will be up to a sponsor to collect all money from participating individuals who make sales in a garage sale. BuyFromAChristian.com is unable to verify or ensure payment to a sponsor as all sales occur outside of our website). Again, a sponsor will see how much is listed and sold, and will be responsible for setting up a collection system for all money made during a particular garage sale.
